Despite England being rocked by yet another horrific terror attack today, British police have confirmed that Ariana Grande‘s One Love Manchester benefit concert will still go ahead.
However, security will be beefed up in light of today’s devastating attack on the London Bridge and Borough Market, which saw at least seven people killed as a gang of militants ploughed their van into pedestrians before getting out and attacking civilians with knives.
Tomorrow morning’s all-star benefit concert, which is set to feature performances by Grande as well as Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Usher, Niall Horan, Coldplay, Pharrell Williams and Take That, was organised by the popstar after 22 people were killed and 120 injured following another devastating terror attack on the Manchester leg of her Dangerous Woman world tour last week.
In a statement, Greater Manchester Police Assistant Chief Constable Garry Shewan announced that the benefit concert — scheduled to get underway at 4.55am AEST on Monday morning — will proceed “but with additional security in place”, adding that another attack is considered “highly likely” and “that the threat level remains at severe” (via SMH).
He also urged ticket holders not to bring bags to the venue AKA Old Trafford Stadium.
Fans don’t seem to be deterred by the threat of further terror though, with tickets to the free blockbuster concert being snapped up online within six minutes.
In the wake of the latest attack on the UK, Grande tweeted simply: “praying for London”.
